An American version of the hit French series “Call My Agent” is currently in the works at HBO, according to a report by Variety. While the original series, known as “Dix pour cent,” was based in a fictional talent agency in Paris, the American adaptation will take place in a sports agency setting. The show will follow four dedicated sports agents as they navigate the challenges of balancing their professional responsibilities with their personal lives in an industry where being an athlete is just the beginning.

Renowned writer Sarah Schneider has been tapped to write and executive produce the HBO version of “Call My Agent.” The production will be supported by Plan B, a company co-founded by Brad Pitt, and Fulwell Entertainment’s SpringHill Studios, established by NBA superstar LeBron James. Plan B, which is majority-owned by French media conglomerate Mediawan, and SpringHill recently merged to create Fulwell 73.

The original French series “Dix pour cent” premiered on France 2 in 2015 and featured a talented ensemble cast including Camille Cottin, Thibault de Montalembert, and others. After its success in France, Netflix acquired the show and rebranded it as “Call My Agent.” The show has since run for four seasons with a fifth season and a Netflix movie in the pipeline.

The American adaptation of “Call My Agent” is just one of many international versions of the series, with adaptations in Turkey, India, Germany, the U.K., and Korea, and a reported Chinese version in development. If the HBO project moves forward, it would be the third show on the network centered around sports representation, following the success of “Ballers” starring Dwayne Johnson and the long-running comedy “Arliss.”

Sarah Schneider, known for her work on “The Other Two” and “Saturday Night Live,” brings a wealth of experience to the project. She has received Emmy nominations for her writing on “The Other Two” and “SNL,” showcasing her talent for comedy writing. Schneider’s impressive resume also includes projects like “Master of None” and the upcoming HBO comedy “The Chair Company.”

With Schneider at the helm and a strong production team backing the project, the American adaptation of “Call My Agent” is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the world of sports representation. Fans of the original series and newcomers alike can look forward to a unique take on the beloved format, set in the fast-paced world of sports agencies. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new HBO series.
