Is there a more profound way to reflect on the grandeur of nature than by capturing its essence through embroidery? Since beginning her embroidery journey in 2020, Cassandra Dias has been transforming rugged cliffs, orderly vineyards, and sunlit mountains into vibrant stitched landscapes.
Based in Southern California, Dias employs a method called thread painting, which blends various stitches to craft scenes rich in texture. Her work, characterized by an impressionistic style, mirrors the precise and expressive strokes of a paintbrush and the dimensionality of impasto. Whether illustrating a solitary autumn tree or an expansive seascape, her art invites viewers to appreciate the intricate details and the lively environment surrounding us.

Many artworks featured here are part of Dias’ upcoming book, Richly Stitched Landscape Embroidery: Mastering Thread Painted Scenes, set to be published in May.
