Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Reneges on Promise to Senate Health Committee Chair Bill Cassidy
WASHINGTON — In a surprising turn of events, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has broken yet another promise to Senate health committee Chair Bill Cassidy (R-La.) this week. Despite the initial agreement, it seems that there have been no repercussions for Kennedy’s actions.
Earlier, in order to secure Cassidy’s crucial confirmation vote, Kennedy had committed to upholding the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s stance that vaccines do not cause autism. Cassidy had outlined the terms of the agreement between the two men, stating that Kennedy had agreed not to alter this assertion on the CDC website.
However, this week, Kennedy went back on his word and made changes to the CDC’s position.
