Many in Hollywood wear their breast enhancements like badges of honor, but as we all know, appearances can be deceiving. Behind the glitzy facade, a good number of A-list celebrities opt to remove their breast implants, often citing a variety of reasons from personal evolution to health concerns.
According to Dr. John Paul Tutela, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York and New Jersey, breast implants generally come in two varieties: saline and silicone. Each type possesses its own unique set of complications that can necessitate removal.
The motivations for discontinuing the use of implants are as varied as the personalities of the stars themselves. Some celebrities, like Chrissy Teigen, come to the introspective conclusion that they simply no longer need enhancements. Meanwhile, others face substantial complications, which may include malposition or breast implant illness (BII).
Implant ruptures are another factor compelling many to remove their breast enhancements. As Dr. Tutela explains, when saline implants rupture, they behave similarly to a deflating water balloon. Silicone implants, however, do not follow suit, as their ruptures are more insidious and require diagnostic measures like MRIs for detection. Notably, Yolanda Hadid has faced this particular ordeal.
Interestingly, while health complications play a significant role, the bulk of removals are a matter of personal aesthetics. The next step for these celebrities can go one of two ways: they either replace the implants with new ones or bid farewell to artificial enhancements entirely.
Recent discussions have seen Alyssa Milano, a former star of *Charmed*, sharing her journey towards embracing a more natural appearance. In a heartfelt Instagram post from September 2025, she expressed her desire to shed “the body that was sexualized” in favor of authenticity.
