Saffron Cherry Productions, a production company based in the U.K., has acquired the rights to adapt Celia Imrie’s latest novel, “Meet Me at Rainbow Corner,” for television. The book, set to be released in paperback by Bloomsbury on August 14, 2024, tells the story of a group of remarkable women working at the American GI Club in Piccadilly, London, during World War II. Against the backdrop of bombings and farewells, these women forge enduring friendships while navigating danger, heartbreak, and unexpected romance. The narrative explores themes of courage and camaraderie in a time of war, incorporating elements of deception, espionage, and relationships with GIs.

Actress Joanna Lumley has praised the novel as “utterly charming and engrossing,” highlighting its captivating storyline. Sally Lindsay, creative director at SCP, expressed excitement about adapting Imrie’s thrilling tale of high stakes, spies, and love during World War II for television. Imrie herself is thrilled that Saffron Cherry Productions has taken on the project, citing their proven track record in producing binge-worthy TV shows.

Imrie, known for her successful acting career, has also made a name for herself as a novelist. Her debut novel, “Not Quite Nice,” achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, leading to a series of well-received follow-up books. With a growing literary portfolio, Imrie continues to captivate readers with her storytelling prowess.

Saffron Cherry Productions, led by founder and managing director Caroline Roberts-Cherry, is dedicated to developing projects that honor historical depth and emotional resonance. The company has a history of producing award-winning content, including the popular series “The World According to Grandpa” and the film “King Lear.” Their focus on female-led narratives and compelling storytelling sets them apart in the industry.
