President Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk both expressed their admiration for the late activist Charlie Kirk as they made amends during his memorial service—lip readers indicated that Trump conveyed to Musk that he had missed him since their highly publicized disagreement.
The two were seen shaking hands in a private box at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium on Sunday, amid a crowd of approximately 78,000 attendees who gathered to commemorate the slain co-founder of Turning Point USA.
Both Musk and the White House shared photos of their encounter, captioned: “For Charlie.”
Lip reader Nicola Hickling revealed to the Daily Mail that Trump initiated the dialogue by asking the Tesla CEO, “How are you doing?” as they settled down next to each other.
Trump reportedly continued, “So Elon, I’ve heard you wanted to chat,” and added, “Let’s try and find a way to get back on track.”
Upon Musk’s nod of agreement, Hickling noted that Trump remarked, “I’ve missed you.”
It has been a while since the two have been seen together, their strong partnership fractured when Musk stepped down as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in late May and subsequently criticized the administration’s extensive “Big Beautiful Bill.”
The tech billionaire began launching an array of sharp criticisms and threats online, including calls for Trump’s impeachment and a movement to establish a new political party to rival the GOP.
In response, Trump threatened to terminate Musk’s government contracts and accused him of being affected by “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
