Netflix has announced the highly anticipated premiere date of “The Survivors,” a six-part Australian mystery series based on Jane Harper’s bestselling novel. Set to debut on June 6, the series takes viewers on a thrilling journey through Tasmania’s rugged coastline, serving as the backdrop for this tense small-town thriller.

Created by renowned Australian showrunner Tony Ayres, known for his work on “Fires,” “Clickbait,” and “Stateless,” “The Survivors” follows the story of Kieran Elliott, whose life was forever changed when two individuals drowned and a young girl went missing in his coastal hometown of Evelyn Bay. Fifteen years later, upon his return with his family, buried guilt resurfaces as a new investigation unfolds following the discovery of a young woman’s body on the beach. This investigation threatens to unearth long-held secrets, uncover the truth about the missing girl, and expose a killer within the tightly-knit community.

The series boasts an ensemble cast led by Charlie Vickers and Yerin Ha, supported by Australian screen veterans Robyn Malcolm, Damien Garvey, Thom Green, George Mason, Jess De Gouw, Miriama Smith, and Catherine McClements. Directed by Cherie Nowlan and Ben C. Lucas, the production received essential support from Screen Tasmania to authentically adapt Harper’s novel.

“The Survivors” adds to Netflix Australia’s successful streak of original productions, following the likes of “Apple Cider Vinegar,” “Heartbreak High,” and “Boy Swallows Universe,” which earned accolades at the 2025 AACTA Awards. These Australian productions have not only resonated with local audiences but have also gained recognition on Netflix’s Global Top 10.

Produced by Tony Ayres Productions in collaboration with Matchbox Pictures and Universal International Studios, with additional support from VicScreen through the Victorian Production Fund and the Victorian Digital Screen Rebate, “The Survivors” promises to captivate viewers with its gripping storyline and stellar cast.
