Chase Stokes Sends Love to Kelsea Ballerini’s Dog Dibs Amid Cancer Battle
Chase Stokes, the 32-year-old actor, is showing his love and support for girlfriend Kelsea Ballerini’s dog, Dibs, as the pup battles cancer. In a heartfelt Instagram Stories post on August 3, Stokes shared a photo of Dibs, a sand-colored doodle, looking up at the camera with his big brown eyes while Ballerini’s hands scratched his back. Stokes simply added a red heart emoji over the picture.
This post comes nearly a year after Ballerini, 31, revealed that Dibs has inoperable cancer in his heart. In August 2024, she shared on her Instagram Stories, “He’s not in pain, and luckily it hasn’t spread further. We’re going to start him on the ‘big’ meds to try to make sure he can have as many comfortable and happy days (weeks, months🙏) left as possible.”
Ballerini expressed her gratitude to her mom and Stokes, whom she has been dating since January 2023, for their support during this difficult time. She described Dibs as her baby and steady companion for the past 9 years. She thanked everyone who has sent prayers and love for Dibs, mentioning that he is wagging his tail in appreciation.
Stokes reposted Ballerini’s message on his own Stories, adding, “It’s been a rough few days here. But our man is in good spirits and eating all his favorite foods. In December 2024, she shared positive news about his prognosis, revealing that he had surpassed the original 4-month estimate and was still steady and happy. In March, she asked for healing thoughts as Dibs completed another round of chemo, calling him “the strongest boy.”
In June, Ballerini celebrated Dibs’ 10th birthday and expressed her gratitude for the support and well wishes he has received. She shared photos and videos of her beloved pup, thanking everyone for their prayers and positive energy. She ended the post by saying, “You’re kicking cancer’s ass. The biggest thank you to everyone who has been keeping dibby in their prayers and sending him well wishes. He loves you and we’re so grateful.”
