Woman Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Involvement in Expressway Shooting and Old Town Incident

Alana Carroll, a 23-year-old woman, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated battery by discharging a firearm and discharging a firearm towards an occupied vehicle. The incidents involved an expressway shooting and a subsequent shooting of her own boyfriend in Old Town.

According to court records, Carroll was driving her SUV with her passenger, then-22-year-old Kierra Henderson when they were involved in a collision with a Chevy Malibu on North Avenue near Sedgwick Street. The altercation escalated when both parties exited their vehicles, leading to an argument. The women in the Malibu left the scene after suspecting Henderson of carrying a gun.

Carroll then pursued the women, striking the Malibu multiple times and chasing it onto the inbound Kennedy Expressway. Henderson reportedly fired shots at the vehicle near the Eisenhower Expressway ramp, causing bullet damage to the Malibu.

Upon returning to Old Town, Carroll and Henderson encountered Carroll’s boyfriend in the 1400 block of North Orleans. Witnesses observed an argument between the boyfriend and two women in a white SUV, believed to be Carroll and Henderson, followed by gunshots as the boyfriend sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

Prosecutors alleged that Carroll used Henderson’s gun to shoot her boyfriend, with surveillance footage showing her returning the firearm to Henderson post-shooting. Police arrested both women shortly after the incident, recovering a gun from Henderson’s purse along with her firearm owner’s license.

Carroll was sentenced to six years for aggravated battery and four years concurrent for aggravated discharge. She is required to serve 85% of the battery sentence before being eligible for release in April 2029. Henderson is currently disputing the charges against her.
