“CIA” has been renewed for a second season on CBS.
The police procedural, crafted by “Law & Order” creator Dick Wolf, debuted on February 23 and attracted 8.4 million viewers across broadcast and streaming in its first week, as reported by Nielsen.
A spinoff of CBS’s “FBI” series, “CIA” centers on FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman, portrayed by Nick Gehlfuss. Goodman is temporarily assigned to a joint CIA/FBI task force, where he partners with the unconventional CIA Agent Colin Glass, played by Tom Ellis. “Together they will work covert operations in New York, uncovering international plots, terrorist cells and geopolitical secrets,” according to the show’s description. As the series progresses, Goodman navigates the complexities of espionage under Glass’s guidance, realizing that while their efforts are crucial to national security, they remain in the shadows.
Alongside Gehlfuss and Ellis, the show features Natalee Linez as CIA analyst Gina Gosian and Necar Zadegan as Nikki Reynard, the deputy chief of the CIA’s New York office. Additional characters from the “FBI” series cross over, including Jeremy Sisto, James Chen, Missy Peregrym, and Alana de la Garza.
“CIA” is the creation of Wolf, David Hudgins, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, and Warren Leight, with Peter Jankowski, Anastasia Puglisi, Perlman, Chasteen, Paul Cabbad, Ken Girotti, Mike Weiss, and Wolf serving as executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with Wolf Entertainment and CBS Studios.
“CIA” is broadcast on CBS and available on Paramount+ every Monday at 10 p.m.
