Instead, their storylines will be incorporated into the second season of the main show, “Citadel,” which is set to premiere next year.
The India-set “Honey Bunny” and Italian series “Diana,” both executive produced by the Russo Brothers, explored different aspects of the powerful Citadel spy agency. Despite their reported success, the decision was made to merge their storylines into the upcoming season of “Citadel.”
In a statement, Amazon MGM Studios head of television Vernon Sanders expressed excitement for the upcoming season of “Citadel,” promising high-stakes storytelling, new cast additions, and bold cinematic ambition. The new season will delve deeper into the emotional journeys of characters like Nadia, Mason, and Orlick as they face off against the formidable Manticore.
The logline for “Citadel” Season 2 teases an intense storyline where the Citadel spies must come out of hiding to join forces with a new team of unconventional spies to prevent a catastrophic technology threat from Manticore’s Brazilian billionaire Paulo Braga.
The main cast of “Citadel” includes Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville. Despite the cancellations of “Honey Bunny” and “Diana,” both spinoffs were well-received, with “Honey Bunny” becoming Prime Video’s most-watched series worldwide during its debut weekend and “Diana” ranking as the best-launching Italian original on the platform.
