Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified for over six hours yesterday in a closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee. The committee, led by Republicans, issued a subpoena to Hillary and former President Bill Clinton as part of their investigation into the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Hillary Clinton denied any knowledge of Epstein and reiterated that denial to the committee. Initially resistant to the subpoena, the Clintons agreed to be questioned after facing possible contempt of Congress. Today, Bill Clinton, who appeared multiple times in the Epstein files, is scheduled to answer questions.
- 🎧 Hillary Clinton mentioned that her husband is likely to discuss the end of his relationship with Epstein well before Epstein’s criminal activities were exposed, according to NPR’s Saige Miller on Up First. Chairman of the committee, James Comer, stated that today’s hearing with Bill Clinton is anticipated to be longer than Hillary Clinton’s, as there are numerous inquiries for the former president. Comer mentioned that Hillary Clinton’s session was productive, with her answering almost every question, even redirecting some to her husband. Hillary Clinton expressed her disappointment after the hearing, stating that it should have been public and describing the questioning as repetitive.
