CNN’s data analyst Harry Enten recently conducted a study on how much voters cared about the events of January 6th as a political issue, and the results were surprising. Contrary to the belief of Democrats and the media, including some individuals at CNN, the January 6th incident was not a significant concern for voters during the 2024 presidential election. Instead, voters were more focused on pressing issues such as the border crisis, inflation, and other serious matters.

Despite efforts by some media personalities, like Sunny Hostin of The View, to sensationalize January 6th as a historic tragedy, the reality is that voters were not as invested in this particular event. The real tragedy lies in the individuals who have been languishing in jail for years due to their involvement in the incident.

According to a report by The Daily Caller, Harry Enten highlighted that the number of American voters who believed former President Donald Trump should be barred from holding office again due to the events of January 6th had decreased from 56% to 47% over the span of four years. Additionally, there was a shift in public opinion regarding Trump’s responsibility for the Capitol riot, with the percentage of Americans attributing blame to him dropping from 48% in January 2021 to 37% in December 2023.

Enten pointed out that only 5% of Americans considered January 6th as their primary memory of Trump’s first term by the time of the 2024 election, with Republicans accounting for just 2% of that figure. This indicates that as time passed, fewer individuals held Trump accountable for the events of January 6th, and it was no longer a prominent memory for most voters.

Despite these findings, it is likely that Democrats and the media will continue to harp on the January 6th incident in the future, failing to learn from the lack of impact it had on the 2024 election. As the political landscape evolves, it is essential for individuals and media outlets to focus on issues that truly resonate with voters and have a meaningful impact on society.

In conclusion, Harry Enten’s analysis sheds light on the shifting perceptions of voters regarding the events of January 6th and underscores the importance of addressing pressing issues that directly affect the lives of Americans. It is crucial for political parties and the media to adapt to the changing priorities of voters and prioritize issues that truly matter to the electorate.
