Dr. Jonathan Reiner, who previously served as cardiologist to Vice President Dick Cheney, has suggested that President Donald Trump should undergo a new medical evaluation following a peculiar moment in the Oval Office.
Reiner, now a medical analyst for CNN, shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, showing Trump seemingly closing his eyes for an extended period while surrounded by officials, aides, and guests during the signing of a bill allowing whole milk in school cafeterias.
“The president appears to be struggling with excessive daytime somnolence,” Reiner wrote, referencing multiple instances of Trump nodding off during public events in recent weeks.
“Repeatedly falling asleep with a dozen people around your desk is not normal,” he added. “It should be evaluated.”
Reiner has previously expressed concerns about Trump’s health on multiple occasions.
Most recently, he criticized the president for taking higher doses of aspirin than recommended. Last month, he voiced worry after Trump seemed “unwell” during a speech, pointing to his tone and “manic” pacing.
“I am genuinely concerned about the president’s health,” Reiner stated. “No one should be pleased to see the president in this state. He appears unwell.”
