WASHINGTON — Donald Trump’s presidential library is poised to become the tallest building in Miami, featuring a replica of the White House ballroom, as announced by his son Eric Trump on Monday.
“It’s going to be the tallest building in Miami, located at the best spot in the city,” Eric Trump stated during the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll, expressing excitement over the “incredible” piece of land.
Last week, the former president revealed striking designs for the upcoming library, depicting a skyscraper towering over the Miami skyline with the “Trump” name brightly displayed at the top.
Eric Trump, who is overseeing the library’s construction, shared further insights into the project dedicated to his father.
“It’s going to be extraordinary,” he remarked, emphasizing that no other presidential library will come close to its grandeur.
The library will be situated in downtown Miami, along the waterfront, on land donated to Trump by Florida. Having relocated from New York, Trump now resides in Palm Beach.
The 2.6-acre site, previously owned by Miami Dade College and used as a parking lot, was returned to the state. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis then transferred ownership to Trump’s presidential library foundation to facilitate the library’s construction.
Despite holding nonconsecutive terms and initially considering a Manhattan location on Fifth Avenue, Trump plans to have a single library in Miami, according to Eric Trump.
The building’s lobby will house the Boeing 747 that served as Air Force One, though Eric Trump was evasive about how the aircraft will be moved downtown.
“We will make it happen. The tower must be built around the plane,” he mentioned without further explanation.
Beside the plane, a golden escalator will be installed, reminiscent of Trump’s first presidential campaign announcement.
Additionally, the library will feature a replica of the Oval Office as it was during Trump’s tenure, a Presidential Walk of Fame, and a golden statue of Trump with a raised fist, possibly alluding to his “fight, fight, fight” gesture following a July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The former president suggested his library might also function as a hotel, aligning with his real estate ventures focused on luxury hotels branded with his name.
“I don’t believe in building libraries or museums,” Trump remarked to reporters. “It could be an office, but it’s most likely going to be a hotel with a beautiful building underneath and a 747 Air Force One in the lobby.”
Eric Trump expressed his motivation to lead the project, aiming to ensure proper recognition for the former president.
“It’s going to be very special. He deserves it,” he stated, noting the challenges faced from Democrats and critics.
While the groundbreaking date remains undisclosed, he mentioned that the library’s funding will come from private donations.
He also contrasted the Trump library with the upcoming Barack Obama Presidential Center in downtown Chicago.
“It’s terribly unattractive,” Eric Trump commented on the Obama library. “It looks like a prison.”
Obama’s structure has been likened to the Death Star.
The Obama Presidential Center museum in Chicago’s Jackson Park plans to open on June 19, 2026, with costs reportedly rising to $850 million, nearly tripling the initial $300 million estimate when the project was first proposed.
