CNN faced backlash for their interview with a Mexican cartel member regarding President Trump’s labeling of them as terrorists. Surprisingly, the gangster expressed respect for the president during the interview.

The interview took place after Trump’s pledge to crack down on the Sinaloa Cartel and the influx of fentanyl into the US, with CNN journalist Isobel Yeung conducting the discussion with the masked gang member.

Despite efforts to elicit negative comments about Trump, the cartel member responded by acknowledging the president’s focus on his constituents. He highlighted the role of US consumers in fueling cartel activities.

Social media users criticized CNN for attempting to humanize the cartel and failing to get the desired anti-Trump soundbite. The network was accused of sympathizing with a criminal organization.

Some viewers found CNN’s approach offensive, questioning the network’s priorities. The unexpected response from the cartel member surprised many, leading to further scrutiny of CNN’s editorial choices.
