In a turbulent turn of events, CNN journalist Kasie Hunt found herself defending New York Attorney General Letitia James after a federal grand jury handed down an indictment this Thursday.
Letitia James has now been charged by a federal jury in the Eastern District of Virginia, highlighting some serious legal concerns facing the AG.
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), James faces two specific allegations: Bank Fraud, which falls under 18 U.S.C. Section 1344, and False Statements to a Financial Institution according to 18 U.S.C. Section 1014.
In an attempt to downplay the gravity of the situation, CNN’s Kasie Hunt suggested on Thursday evening that mortgage fraud is something every American has supposedly engaged in at some point.

Federal Housing Director Bill Pulte has responded to Hunt’s contentious remarks, pressing for accountability and clarity. “We intend to ascertain the basis for Ms. Hunt’s troubling claim that she possesses knowledge of individuals allegedly engaging in mortgage fraud. Should she be privy to this information, it is imperative that we receive it immediately,” Pulte emphasized.
