CU Buffs’ New Defensive Coordinator Chris Marve Embraces Challenge
Chris Marve, the newly appointed defensive coordinator for the Colorado Buffaloes, has been starting his days early with a lot of coffee from Starbucks in Boulder. Promoted from linebackers coach in December, Marve is hitting the ground running with the Buffs as they begin spring practices.
With a background in coaching at various universities, including Virginia Tech, Marve brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is focused on instilling a mindset of playing together as a unit and being situationally efficient on defense.
Despite the late change in coordinator just before spring practices, the players have already taken notice of Marve’s demanding yet encouraging coaching style. Linebacker Liona Lefau appreciates Marve’s emphasis on excellence and pushing players to be their best.
As CU aims to improve their defense and adapt to new personnel, Marve sees the challenge as an opportunity for growth. He credits the coaching staff for creating a positive environment for the team to thrive in.
Overall, Marve’s philosophy centers around playing smart, fast, and aggressive as a unit. He believes that effort and mindset can often overcome structural challenges on defense.
With a strong foundation in place and a determined coach at the helm, the CU Buffs’ defense is poised for success under Chris Marve’s leadership.
