The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for an emotional start to the regular season as they prepare to honor their late owner, Jim Irsay. The team announced that Irsay will be inducted into the Colts’ Ring of Honor on September 7, coinciding with their game against the Miami Dolphins at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Fans of the Colts expressed their excitement and support for the tribute to Irsay, with one fan tweeting, “Will be a special day, I’ll be there. Now the team needs to end the week 1 curse and win this one for Big Jim.” Another fan described the induction as a “fantastic move,” highlighting the significance of the occasion.

The announcement of Irsay’s induction into the Ring of Honor came on what would have been his 66th birthday. Irsay, who passed away in 2025, succeeded his father, Robert, as the owner of the Colts in 1997. Both father and son will now be honored in the team’s Ring of Honor, a testament to their contributions to the franchise.

Colts fans fondly remember Jim Irsay as a great owner who was dedicated to seeing the team succeed. His commitment to the Colts led to numerous division titles, playoff appearances, and a Super Bowl victory during his tenure as owner. Fans took to social media to pay tribute to Irsay, with one describing him as a “legend” and another expressing anticipation for the upcoming game in his honor.

Following Jim Irsay’s passing, his daughters Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Kalen Jackson, and Casey Foyt have taken on roles as principal owners of the Colts, continuing the family legacy. Carlie Irsay-Gordon emphasized the family’s commitment to excellence, stating, “Winning is great, but we’re really committed to being the best. And if we’re the best, we will win games.”

The Colts are determined to build on their legacy and strive for success in the upcoming season. With a renewed focus on carrying on Jim Irsay’s vision for the team, the franchise is poised to make a strong push for the playoffs and honor their late owner’s memory in the process. The Irsay family’s dedication to the Colts ensures that the team’s future is in good hands as they aim to achieve their goals on and off the field.
