Carmen Andrade and Lupita Andrade are candidly exploring the intricate dynamics of sisterhood and intimacy as 25-year-old conjoined twins. This intriguing duo is sharing insights, including the unique arrangement that allows Carmen to be married to Daniel McCormack.
In a rare and refreshing confession, Carmen revealed that effective communication is their secret weapon for managing personal moments. During a recent interview with People, published on September 22, she articulated this: when her sister Lupitaâwho identifies as asexualâfeels uncomfortable about certain private interactions between Carmen and Daniel, such as cuddling or engaging in personal conversations, they simply ensure that “we just respect that.”
Lupita also discussed her own strategies for managing their shared space and respecting boundaries, saying, “I have headphones and a phone. I donât care.”Â
The love story between Carmen and Daniel, 28, which began on the dating app Hinge back in 2020, blossomed into marriage as they exchanged vows in New Milford, Connecticut, in October 2024.
Carmen mentioned an interesting societal pressure: “Thereâs a certain expectation that relationship dynamics need to be filled with constant affection.” Instead, she emphasized that “we just joke around a lot of the time,” underlining the importance of humor in their connection.
Clarifying her role within this equation, Lupita firmly stated her relationship with Daniel remains platonic, asserting, âI love him as a brother. Thatâs about it.â She expressed her frustration at intrusive questions regarding her feelings toward him.
Daniel also opened up about their unique relationship, expressing frustration over the incessant scrutiny regarding their private lives. “People are obsessed with sex, you know? Frankly, itâs none of your f***ing business,” he exclaimed. Carmen echoed this frustration, stating, “I donât understand why people need to know about my private parts to humanize us.”
Once labeled as unlikely survivors with a mere three days to live after birth in Mexico, Carmen and Lupita now thrive, each possessing a heart, a set of arms, a set of lungs, and a stomach. They do, however, share certain anatomical features, including ribs, a circulatory system, and both digestive and reproductive systems.
As for the future, the couple has candidly dismissed the prospect of expanding their family. “No kids, never plan on it,” Daniel quipped, likening the joys of parenthood to “renting a kid,” suggesting an approach where one can enjoy children temporarily without the long-term commitment. Carmen reiterated this sentiment, admitting, “I never saw myself being a parent.”
