And indeed, one could argue the outcomes would have been significantly distinct.

Picture a Democratic administration where a right-wing extremist assassinates a prominent liberal figure live on national television. Imagine the uproar as countless conservatives celebrate the act, and some even call for more violence. If that weren’t shocking enough, envisage another related incident where a different right-wing individual commits a mass shooting at a country club while yelling “MAGA,” coupled with a manifesto criticizing supposed liberal bias in the media.
Further, after these incidents, a conservative sniper attacks a Planned Parenthood clinic, resulting in casualties. This attack isn’t isolated—it’s merely the latest in a troubling pattern of violence stretching back several months.
In such a scenario, would there be any doubt about how the Democratic Party and mainstream media would react? Wouldn’t they initiate an all-out assault on conservative voices, possibly even parading individuals like myself in front of cameras in handcuffs? Wouldn’t they leverage the situation to declare martial law and label all right-wing sentiments as incitement? Wouldn’t conservatives be rounded up en masse and sent off to incarceration facilities?
Would they not aim to dismantle conservative media outlets and drive their leadership to the brink of financial collapse through lawsuits?
Walsh clarifies he isn’t suggesting a moral equivalence, rather he argues for a proactive response from the current administration to prevent further violence.
