Authorities in Chicago have issued a community alert following a disturbing incident in which a 15-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint by three men aboard a Green Line train in Englewood. This incident marks the second consecutive day in which teenagers have been targeted on the rail line, prompting heightened concerns for public safety.
The robbery took place around 8 p.m. on October 8 near 63rd Street and Halsted. The suspects, described as three men, confronted the teenager, brandished a gun, and proceeded to steal his belongings. Surveillance images of the suspects have been released in hopes of identifying and apprehending them.
The suspects are described as Black males: one wearing a gray sweater under a black jacket with black jeans and black shoes, another in a black sweater, black jeans, black shoes, and carrying a gray backpack, and a third wearing a gray Nike sweater with black Adidas pants and black shoes.
Following this incident, a similar alert was issued the next day regarding another robbery involving three men who targeted a 16-year-old boy on a Green Line platform in Bronzeville. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on October 9 at the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station. The offenders approached the teen on the platform and stole his belongings. Surveillance images from this case have also been released.
The suspects in the October 9 case were also described as Black males: one wearing a light-colored flannel jacket, another in a black hooded sweatshirt with a graphic design along with black pants and black-and-white gym shoes, and a third in a white T-shirt and red pants.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspects to contact Public Transportation Detectives at 312-745-4447 or submit anonymous tips at CPDTIP.com using case number JJ444919 for the October 8 robbery and JJ446784 for the October 9 case.
