In a shocking turn of events, popular creator IShowSpeed found himself in hot water after a live-streamed meeting with the humanoid influencer Rizzbot in September. Rizzbot, known for its comedic roasting and rebellious gestures, boasts over a million followers and 800 million views on social media. On the other hand, IShowSpeed has amassed more than 50 million followers and 6 billion views across various platforms for his dramatic livestreaming antics.
The aftermath of their encounter has led to a lawsuit filed by Rizzbot’s creators, Social Robotics, against IShowSpeed, also known as Darren Jason Watkins Jr., his management company Mixed Management, and another producer from Speed’s team present during the meeting. The lawsuit alleges that IShowSpeed caused “irreparable damage” to Rizzbot, including punching the robot in the face, putting it in a chokehold, and throwing it to the ground, as shown in the livestream video.
The lawsuit claims that Rizzbot suffered extensive damages, including loss of functionality, damage to its mouth and neck, malfunctioning head cameras, and impaired sensors. The petition seeks compensation for damages, including lost profits, though the exact amount remains undisclosed at this time.
Following the incident, the Austin Police were called, and a police report confirmed damages to Rizzbot without the owner’s consent, leading to possible charges against IShowSpeed. Despite these allegations, IShowSpeed’s management team has remained silent on the matter.
Social Robotics’ lawyer, Joel Levine, stated that the lawsuit was filed after failed negotiations with IShowSpeed’s team regarding compensation for the damage done to Rizzbot. The lawsuit accuses IShowSpeed of acting recklessly and wrongfully exerting control over Rizzbot, resulting in missed economic opportunities for the robot’s creators.
The petition highlights the significant setback for Rizzbot in terms of viral momentum and financial gain, as the robot is currently unable to participate in scheduled appearances and deals, including those with CBS’s The NFL Today and Mr. Beast. The lawsuit emphasizes the substantial financial damage caused by the intentional destruction of Rizzbot, potentially impacting its long-term success in the social media sphere.
As the legal battle unfolds, Rizzbot expressed optimism about its future, stating that it has received a new body after IShowSpeed’s actions. The robot looks forward to showcasing new content and mastering complex movements, promising exciting developments for its fans in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story.
