A young man who fell from a University of Otago building is still in an induced coma several days later after the incident. He was discovered by Campus Watch staff and taken to Dunedin Hospital in critical condition. The man fell from the University of Otago Centre for Innovation building and was found at 12.10am near Cumberland and Saint David Streets.

According to reports, the man is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Dunedin Hospital, with medical staff monitoring his condition. Investigations revealed that he fell from a ledge where a wine bottle was found. It is believed that he climbed the exterior of the building to reach the ledge.

The police officer on the case, Const Stafford-Rogers, issued a warning about the dangers of drinking and climbing buildings. He emphasized the effects of alcohol on judgment and coordination, urging people to avoid risky behavior while under the influence.

This incident follows a similar one involving a young rugby player who suffered injuries from a fall in September last year. The player was also placed in a medically induced coma before recovering the following month.

It is crucial to prioritize safety and avoid dangerous activities, especially when alcohol is involved. The consequences of risky behavior can be severe and life-changing.
