Dan Abrams, a prominent figure on Nexstar Media’s NewsNation primetime schedule, has announced his departure from the network early next year. In a statement to viewers during his show, “Dan Abrams Live,” Abrams cited his various business commitments as the reason for his decision to step down from his hosting duties.
Abrams, who is also the founder of media outlets such as Mediaite and Bottle Raiders, as well as a host on SiriusXM and the Law & Crime Network, expressed that he is unable to continue devoting the necessary time to his NewsNation program while also managing his other ventures. Despite his departure from the nightly 9 p.m. slot, Abrams is expected to remain as a contributor to the network.
Having joined NewsNation in 2021, Abrams signed a multi-year deal with the network in 2023. His show, “Dan Abrams Live,” initially aired at 8 p.m. before being moved to 9 p.m. to accommodate the addition of Chris Cuomo to the lineup. Alongside Cuomo, other notable names on the NewsNation roster include Elizabeth Vargas, Leland Vittert, and Ashleigh Banfield.
As Abrams prepares to transition out of his hosting role, NewsNation has not yet named a replacement for his program. Fans can expect to see Abrams continue to host the show until February, as he wraps up his final months on the network.
The departure of Dan Abrams marks a significant change for NewsNation, as the network navigates its lineup and adjusts to the evolving landscape of primetime television. Despite his exit, Abrams’ contributions to the network and the field of media analysis are sure to leave a lasting impact on both his colleagues and viewers alike.
