Daughter Forgives Mother Who Abandoned Her 24 Years Ago
After 24 years of searching, Amanda, the daughter of Michele Hundley Smith, has finally found her mother who abandoned her and her siblings in 2001. Michele, now 62, disappeared without a trace just before Christmas, leaving behind her three children aged 19, 14, and 8. The sheriff recently located her living a secluded life in a trailer three hours away from her former home in Rockingham County.
Amanda, who was 14 at the time of her mother’s disappearance, has been in contact with Michele, a friend revealed. Despite the years of uncertainty and pain, Amanda has found it in her heart to forgive her mother for her actions.
According to a friend named Lynn, who spoke to The Post, Amanda and Michele have reconnected through a mutual friend. While Amanda has forgiven her mother, she prefers to keep the details private.
Michele herself confirmed the reconciliation with her daughter, stating, “My daughter is forgiving me. We are in contact, so leave me alone,” from her trailer in Robeson County.
Recently, Michele was required to return to Rockingham County to address a drunk driving charge from before her disappearance. Although she was arrested for failing to appear in court, the district attorney has decided not to pursue charges for abandonment.
Despite the tumultuous past, Amanda and Michele are slowly rebuilding their relationship and moving forward from the pain of the past. The journey towards forgiveness and reconciliation continues for this mother and daughter duo.
