Tragic Murders of Three Young Women in Argentina Spark Outrage

In a horrifying incident in Argentina, a 15-year-old girl and her two older cousins were reportedly tortured and murdered, with the brutal acts broadcast live on social media platforms, according to local authorities.

The dismembered bodies of the victims—Lara Morena Gutierrez, aged 15; Brenda del Castillo, 20; and Morena Verdi, 20—were discovered in a well located behind a residence. It has been reported that the trio was lured into a van under the pretense of attending a party, as detailed by the Buenos Aires Herald.

According to a report from Argentinian news outlet La Nacion, Gutierrez suffered particularly extreme brutality, with her left hand’s five fingers and one ear amputated prior to a fatal throat cut. Del Castillo endured multiple stab wounds in the neck and significant facial injuries from punches before her abdomen was slashed open. Verdi’s assault included severe facial beatings and a broken neck.

The horrific torture of these young women was livestreamed to a closed group on social media, as revealed by Buenos Aires Security Minister Javier Alonso.

Authorities believe that a Peruvian drug trafficker orchestrated the killings, suspecting the women of stealing cocaine from him. “This is what happens to those who steal drugs from me,” one gang leader reportedly warned in the livestream, sharing a chilling reminder of the threats associated with the drug trade.

So far, four individuals, including two women, have been detained in connection with the case, which has been referred to in the media as the “House of Horrors.” This grotesque event occurred in Florencio Varela, a town situated approximately 16 miles south of Buenos Aires. The victims had been reported missing on September 19, with their tragic deaths occurring just a day later.

The gruesome nature of these murders has ignited widespread protests throughout Argentina, with families and advocates demanding justice and better protections for women. During a demonstration in Buenos Aires, Leonel del Castillo, the father of Brenda, expressed his anguish, stating, “Women must be protected more than ever.” He described the gut-wrenching experience of trying to identify his daughter, stating it was impossible due to the violence inflicted upon her.

Antonio del Castillo, the grandfather of the two cousins, shared his sorrow during an emotional interview, denouncing the perpetrators as “bloodthirsty” and lamenting the inhumane treatment the victims endured.

The identities of the suspects in custody have not yet been released, but they are expected to face charges soon.
