The tragic murder-suicide that took place in Sacramento this week has shocked the community, as the father involved showed no signs of his violent intentions on social media. David Vallerga, the father who shot and killed his wife and two children before taking his own life, portrayed a loving and devoted image of his family online.

On his Facebook page, Vallerga shared photos of happy family moments, such as taking his kids to the playground, teaching them how to ride bicycles, and even going on Costco runs together. His daughter Sydney, who was one of the victims, was often featured in his posts, including one where she was sitting in a shopping cart wearing pink boots and a “Put a Bow on It” top.

Vallerga also documented special bonding moments with his son Colton, who tragically lost his life in the horrific incident. From taking his son to work to having boys’ night out shopping for dinner, Vallerga’s posts painted a picture of a close-knit family.

Despite the seemingly loving portrayal on social media, Vallerga’s actions spoke differently. He posted about warm moments with his wife Lindsay, who was also a victim of the attack, including cooking for her and sharing their family pet lizard with their daughter Sydney.

One chilling post showed Vallerga posing with a toy gun alongside his daughter, teaching her about trigger control. This stark contrast between the online persona and the tragic events that unfolded has left the community reeling.

Neighbors recalled hearing Vallerga yelling at his family, including the children, with one neighbor recounting a moment where he heard Vallerga threatening his wife. Despite these hints of anger, the true extent of the violence that would occur was unimaginable.

Vallerga and his wife worked together in a brick-and-mortar business with the tutoring franchise GradePower Learning. Lindsay Vallerga was described as a wonderful neighbor and supporter of local businesses, with her son showing a keen interest in manga.

The devastating loss of the Vallerga family has left the community in mourning, grappling with the stark contrast between the loving family portrayed online and the horrific tragedy that unfolded behind closed doors. As the investigation continues, the community is left searching for answers and grappling with the complexities of domestic violence and its devastating consequences.
