Geno Auriemma, the legendary coach of the UConn women’s basketball team, has had an incredible career with 1,250 victories and 12 national championships under his belt. With such a track record, it’s no surprise that he has a knack for foreseeing victory. In a recent interview on ESPN’s Sportscenter, Auriemma revealed that he had a premonition about winning his 12th NCAA Tournament title.

“When did I know we would win the NCAA Tournament title? With about 1:30 left in Sunday’s championship game,” Auriemma joked before getting serious. He went on to explain that during the UCLA semifinal game, he and his team had a moment where they realized they could be really good and potentially win it all.

The UConn team’s journey to the championship was marked by an impressive performance in the Final Four. They defeated their opponents in a dominant fashion, setting new records along the way. The 85-51 win over UCLA in the Final Four set a new record for the largest margin of victory in Final Four history. Despite facing a talented UCLA team, UConn managed to outscore them by 34 points, showcasing their strength and skill on the court.

One standout player for UCLA was All-American center Lauren Betts, who scored 26 points in the game. However, the rest of the team struggled to keep up with UConn’s relentless offense and suffocating defense. The Huskies’ ability to maintain a high level of play throughout the tournament was a testament to their talent and determination.

Auriemma’s foresight and the team’s exceptional performance culminated in their 12th national championship victory. It’s clear that the UConn women’s basketball dynasty shows no signs of slowing down, thanks to the leadership and vision of Coach Auriemma.
