In a dramatic turn of events this Saturday, a spokesperson from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that a female ICE agent was reportedly bodyslammed by members of Congress during a confrontation at a detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.
Tricia McLaughlin, the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, shared these details during an appearance on CNN, shedding light on the altercation that unfolded between New Jersey Democrats and ICE agents at the Delaney Hall detention center.
On Friday, a group of Democratic lawmakers, led by Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, forcefully entered the ICE facility. Following this incursion, Mayor Baraka was arrested and charged with federal trespassing. The DHS has indicated that this is just the beginning, with more arrests anticipated.
âWe have bodycam footage capturing members of Congress assaulting our ICE enforcement officers, including an incident where a female officer was bodyslammed,â McLaughlin stated, promising that the footage would soon be made available to the public.
When asked by CNN if this footage could lead to arrests of congressional members, McLaughlin confirmed, âThat is definitely on the table.â

Earlier that same day, bodycam footage surfaced showing Democratic Representative LaMonica McIver engaging in a verbal tirade and physically assaulting federal agents at the Newark facility. In a particularly charged moment, McIver was heard shouting, âI touch whoever I want, motherf*cker!â
