Denver Pride Festival and Parade Moved to New Location

Denver Pride, organized by The Center on Colfax, has announced a change in plans for its annual festival and parade this summer. Due to ongoing construction at Civic Center park, the event will be reimagined with a new format and smaller footprint.

The reimagined event will now be condensed into a single day, with various activities and celebrations planned throughout the month of June. The Denver Pride Parade will take place on 17th Street on Sunday, June 28, while the Denver Pride Festival will be held on 16th Street on the same day.

Organizers are emphasizing inclusivity and representation this year, with a focus on historically underrepresented communities such as BIPOC and trans individuals. The theme for this year’s event is “This Is Denver Pride,” highlighting the diverse voices within the LGBTQ+ community.

In addition to the parade and festival, the annual Denver Pride 5K will kick off on Saturday, June 27 at 8:30 a.m. Details on the route are still being finalized.

This year’s event is also placing a strong emphasis on aligning with sponsors who share the values of The Center. The organization has committed to not accepting sponsorship from companies involved in conflicts abroad or causing harm to marginalized communities.

Denver Pride has a rich history, with this year marking 52 years since the first Pride event in the city. Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the event has continued to adapt and grow, becoming one of the largest Pride celebrations in the country.
