On a recent episode of “Sunday Morning Futures,” Devin Nunes, CEO of Trump Media, joined Maria Bartiromo to dissect the implications of the recent indictment of James Comey, the former FBI director.

Bartiromo opened the conversation by stating, “We are closely examining the indictment issued against Jim Comey for allegedly making false statements and obstructing Congress.”

She then turned to Nunes, asking, “Thank you for being here this morning, Devin. What’s your take on the indictment of Jim Comey?”

Nunes responded, “Maria, I believe Comey should count himself fortunate. First of all, he wasn’t treated as harshly as Roger Stone.”

He elaborated, “They conducted a pre-dawn raid on Stone’s home at 6 a.m., forcibly removing him before they even had the courtesy to alert CNN cameras.”

Furthermore, Nunes contrasted Comey’s situation with that of General Flynn, who faced an FBI ambush in the White House. “Comey himself admitted to the way they cornered Flynn and then charged him for similar offenses, despite FBI agents asserting they didn’t think Flynn had lied,” he pointed out.

“Comey has long been a dishonest figure—he’s a leaker and has significantly tarnished the reputation of the FBI,” Nunes added.

He warned that Comey might be lucky if he doesn’t face broader conspiracy charges, noting, “That’s really something that should be directed at a variety of individuals involved in politically motivated actions over the past seven to eight years in this country.”

In response to further questions from Bartiromo about potential additional charges against Comey, Nunes elaborated, “The current indictment pertains strictly to whether he misled in this particular instance. The overarching question is whether there’s enough evidence for a conspiracy case.”

He continued, “What’s more concerning is the term ‘misleading’—a number of these individuals fabricated narratives using intelligence that wasn’t legitimate, thereby misleading the American public while acting as though they possessed concrete evidence.”

Nunes summed up, stating, “Everything that has been declassified indicates there was no substantiated intelligence tying Russia to collusion with Trump.”

In summary, Nunes presented a perspective that emphasizes the perceived injustices of the legal proceedings surrounding figures like Comey, while also hinting at what he believes should be a broader reckoning for the political elite. This situation illustrates not only the complexities of contemporary American politics but also the enduring debate over accountability within governmental agencies.
