A representative informed People on Saturday, October 11, that the beloved actress passed away in California at the age of 79. No further details were given, and the family requested privacy during this challenging time.

Since the news of her passing, fans have expressed their condolences on the post to honor her memory.

“RIP,” one user lamented, sharing an angel and heart emoji. “I just watched you in Book Club the other night.”

“I heard the news and I’m completely shocked and saddened,” another user remarked. “Sending hugs and love to the Keaton family. RIP Diane. You will be missed.

Hudson Grace debuted its partnership with Keaton back in August 2024, with Reggie prominently featured in the announcement.

Keaton, an Oscar-winning actress, had a celebrated career with roles in The Godfather, Annie Hall, The Father of the Bride, and the Book Club films.

She later became synonymous with romantic comedies, expressing to Us Weekly in 2022 her desire to take on more physically demanding roles.

“I explored some physicality in my work, which I loved, and it sparked my desire to do more physical performances in films rather than just remaining stagnant,” she told Us about her involvement in Mack & Rita. “Honestly, I haven’t had that opportunity for quite a while. I want to embrace more of that.

Keaton commented in the past about her wish to work again with her fellow actors from the Father of the Bride series, including Steve Martin, Martin Short, Kimberly Williams Paisley, and Kieran Culkin.

“No one has approached me about it yet, but if an opportunity arose, I’d certainly be interested. Of course, I would love to do it again,” she remarked to Us in 2022. “They’re busy with their own projects now, like their show [Only Murders in the Building], which is quite impressive. Their talents are undeniable, and it’s exciting how they’re pushing boundaries on television.”

Surviving Diane Keaton are her two adopted children, Dexter and Duke, whom she welcomed into her life in her 50s.
