Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing the music as he prepares for sentencing following his convictions in a federal trial in New York City.
On Friday morning, Diddy will appear in federal court alongside his legal team, which includes Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, as well as the prosecutors and presiding Judge Arun Subramanian.
However, one prominent lawyer, Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI Director Jim Comey, will not be present. She was the lead prosecutor on Diddy’s case until her recent termination from the Department of Justice, with the reasons behind her dismissal remaining unclear.

Diddy was convicted in July by a jury of two counts under the Mann Act, related to transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.
Though he was acquitted of the more severe charges including racketeering and sex trafficking, Diddy could face up to 10 years of imprisonment on each of the Mann Act convictions, which relate to his controversial “Freak-Offs” involving male escorts and his former partners such as Cassie Ventura and the witness referred to as “Jane” during the trial.
In a notable turn, during the sentencing proceedings, Diddy is expected to speak before the court, marking his first public comments since the trial commenced.
In a recent filing, Geragos stated, “The sentencing is highly significant for Mr. Combs. He aims to appear before the Court and address Your Honor with utmost dignity and respect.”

Currently, Diddy is incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn following his September 2024 arrest. His legal team has made several unsuccessful attempts to secure his release on bail, with the judge denying their requests. Additionally, efforts to dismiss the Mann Act charges or secure a new trial have not succeeded.

Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of over 11 years in prison. Amidst this, President Trump has hinted at the possibility of intervening to pardon Diddy, though he has also indicated that he might allow him to serve his time.
