The Dominican Republic is reeling from a tragic nightclub rooftop collapse that has left over 100 people dead. The death toll continues to rise, with at least 113 people reported dead and 155 others injured in the devastating incident at the Jet Set nightclub. Among the casualties was renowned merengue musician Rubby Pérez, whose life was tragically cut short.

The collapse occurred in the country’s capital city, Santo Domingo, and emergency services are still conducting a search-and-rescue operation at the scene. Photos from the aftermath of the tragedy show rescue workers sifting through the wreckage, pulling bodies from the debris in a harrowing and heartbreaking scene.

The shocking moment of the collapse was captured on camera, showing fans enjoying the music of Rubby Pérez before the roof suddenly gave way, plunging the venue into darkness. The footage abruptly cuts off as chaos ensues.

Rubby Pérez, aged 69, was pulled from the rubble but was later pronounced dead. The Dominican Republic also mourns the loss of former MLB veteran Octavio Dotel and Monte Cristi governor Nelsy Cruz, who were among the victims of this tragic event.

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader visited the site of the collapse, offering prayers to the affected families and assuring them that his administration is closely monitoring the ongoing rescue efforts. The entire nation is in mourning as they come to terms with the scale of this devastating tragedy.
