Douglas County Man Convicted of Drugging and Sexually Assaulting Women

A Parker man was found guilty by a Douglas County jury last week of drugging and sexually assaulting four women he met through dating apps, as reported by the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

David Kats, 56, was convicted on Dec. 16 after a six-day jury trial on 17 felony counts, including 12 charges of sexual assault, according to court records.

Each of the four women testified that they blacked out after being served drinks by Kats and later realized they had been sexually assaulted. Parker police officers discovered “numerous substances used to incapacitate victims” when they searched Kats’ home, prosecutors stated.

The women connected through a “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” Facebook group, shared their experiences with Kats, and reported him to the Parker Police Department.

During the trial, Kats denied the date rape accusations and insisted that the sexual encounters were consensual. However, text messages from the victims revealed their suspicions of being drugged, according to the DA’s office.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Danielle Jaramillo commended the women for their bravery in facing the predator in court. “Because of their courage, David Kats will finally be held accountable for the harm he caused,” Jaramillo stated.

Kats is scheduled to be sentenced on April 23, according to court records.
