Dr. Oz is working to temper President Trump‘s recent assertions regarding Tylenol use in pregnant women and potential Autism links, by clarifying when acetaminophen is advisable and when it should be avoided.

Oz, currently serving as Trump’s Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, appeared on “TMZ Live” on Tuesday to shed light on Trump’s comments from a recent White House briefing.

Trump took a firm stance against Tylenol, instructing expectant mothers to refrain from its use entirely. However, Dr. Oz pointed out a specific scenario where Tylenol could be crucial.

Dr. Oz indicated that pregnant women suffering from high-grade fevers need not stress about using Tylenol, as it can effectively reduce fever, which left untreated, may lead to birth defects. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of consulting a physician in such situations.

The esteemed doctor notes that low-grade fevers or mild discomfort are not sufficient reasons for pregnant women to resort to Tylenol.

Dr. Oz mentioned that the administration critically reviewed studies that both concluded a lack of correlation between Tylenol and autism and those that suggested a link, explaining why Trump and his team issued stern warnings to pregnant women about potential risks.

While Trump’s remarks were categorical, Oz appears to leave room for nuance; catch the full dialogue on “TMZ Live.”
