The Dunedin City Council has officially started the process of gathering feedback on its proposed 9-year plan for the period of 2025-2034.

Mayor Jules Radich emphasized the importance of finding a balance between investing in the city’s infrastructure and services while keeping costs reasonable. The community has expressed a desire for improvements in infrastructure, roads, support for small businesses, and the arts and culture sectors, as well as a desire for lower rate increases.

Radich highlighted the need for ongoing investments in essential city assets like pipes, roads, playgrounds, and flood protection measures in South Dunedin. He acknowledged that these investments come with a financial cost, but the council is committed to finding a balance that maintains affordability for ratepayers while fulfilling its obligations.

Public consultation on the draft 9-year plan will continue until April 30th, providing residents with opportunities to share their feedback through drop-in sessions and online resources available on the council’s website.
