Teen Joyrider Takes Queens MTA Train on Spin, Faces Multiple Charges

An 18-year-old repeat transit offender, Justine Randall-Pizarro, made headlines last week for allegedly taking a Queens MTA train on a one-stop joyride. With a dozen arrests this year, most related to transit incidents, Pizarro is no stranger to breaking the law, especially on the rails, according to police.

It was reported that Pizarro, sporting reddish-orange dreads, a black hat, and black Crocs, managed to commandeer a locked N train at the Broadway station in Astoria and drive it to the 36th Avenue stop. Investigators believe she used a key to get the train running before embarking on the illicit journey.

During questioning after her arrest, Pizarro admitted to hijacking the train while video chatting with a friend and claimed to have the keys to access it. She confessed to driving the train from Broadway to 36th Avenue while on FaceTime with her friend, stating that the keys were stolen from MTA workers.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed that Pizarro has been arrested 12 times this year, mostly for transit-related offenses such as burglary, reckless endangerment, train surfing, and larceny from transit property. He described her as a “transit recidivist” who repeatedly breaks into trains, moves them, and steals items like train keys.

Recent incidents involving Pizarro include stealing a female conductor’s bag from a No. 5 train in the Bronx, taking control of a train at Van Siclen Avenue in Brooklyn, and unleashing pepper spray on an MTA worker on an R train in Bay Ridge. Despite the seriousness of these charges, Pizarro was granted supervised release or released on her own recognizance in each case.

With a history of stealing from train operator cabins and causing disruptions in the transit system, Pizarro’s actions have raised concerns about the security and safety of MTA property. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is working to consolidate the charges against her and ensure that she faces appropriate consequences for her repeated offenses.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards sustainable living and eco-friendly practices. As our planet faces increasing environmental challenges, more and more people are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and live in harmony with nature. One of the ways in which individuals can make a positive impact on the environment is by adopting a zero-waste lifestyle.

A zero-waste lifestyle is all about minimizing waste and reducing the amount of trash that goes to landfills. This can be achieved by following the 5 R’s: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot. By refusing single-use plastics, reducing consumption, reusing items, recycling materials, and composting organic waste, individuals can significantly decrease their impact on the environment.

One of the key principles of a zero-waste lifestyle is to avoid products that come in non-recyclable packaging. This means opting for products with minimal or compostable packaging, or choosing to buy in bulk to reduce waste. By shopping at bulk stores or bringing your own containers to refill, you can drastically reduce the amount of packaging that ends up in the trash.

Another important aspect of zero-waste living is to prioritize durability and longevity when making purchases. Instead of buying cheap, disposable items that will end up in the trash after a short period of time, invest in high-quality, long-lasting products that can be used for years to come. This not only reduces waste but also saves money in the long run.

Composting is also a key component of a zero-waste lifestyle. By composting food scraps and organic waste, you can divert a significant amount of material from the landfill and create nutrient-rich soil for your garden. Composting is a simple and effective way to reduce waste and give back to the earth.

In addition to reducing waste at home, individuals can also make a difference by supporting businesses and organizations that prioritize sustainability. By choosing to buy from companies that use eco-friendly practices and materials, you can help drive demand for more sustainable products and encourage others to follow suit.

Overall, adopting a zero-waste lifestyle is not only beneficial for the environment but also for your health and well-being. By reducing waste, you can create a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations to enjoy. So why not take the first step towards a zero-waste lifestyle today and make a positive impact on the world around you?
