Phil Robertson, ‘Duck Dynasty’ Patriarch, Passes Away at 79
The television world mourns the loss of Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the popular reality show “Duck Dynasty,” who passed away at the age of 79.
Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
In December, Robertson’s family revealed on their show “Unashamed With the Robertson Family” that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
A Life Celebrated
Korie Robertson, his daughter-in-law, shared the news on Facebook, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers from those impacted by his life. She quoted the words of Paul and emphasized the family’s belief in reuniting with him in the afterlife.
The family plans to hold a private service and will announce details for a public celebration of his life in the future.
From Teacher to Duck Commander
Before achieving fame on television, Robertson worked as a teacher and commercial fisherman. He later went on to invent the Duck Commander call, a pivotal moment that led to the creation of a successful multi-million dollar business now managed by his son Willie Robertson.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Legacy
“Duck Dynasty” captured the hearts of viewers during its run on A&E from 2012 to 2017. The show, which followed the Robertson family’s adventures in their Duck Commander business, became the most-watched nonfiction cable series in history by 2013.
Despite facing controversy, including Robertson’s suspension for his comments on homosexuality in 2013, the show continued to resonate with audiences.
Legacy Continues
A new iteration of the show, “Duck Dynasty: Revival,” featuring Korie and Willie Robertson, is set to air on A&E in the coming months. However, Phil Robertson will not be part of the cast.
Life Story on the Big Screen
In 2023, a film titled “The Blind – The True Story of the Robertson Family” was released in theaters, chronicling Robertson’s remarkable life journey.
