The upcoming sixth season of Emily in Paris will explore Emily’s reconnection with Gabriel, although Emily will continue to have numerous choices in her personal life.
Lily Collins discussed how the new season will handle the postcard Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) sent to Emily. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at PaleyFest, she remarked, “Does she get the postcard? I don’t know. Maybe she does. Maybe she doesn’t. I know we end up in Greece but I haven’t read anything. Things get lost in the mail.”
Collins, 37, emphasized her neutrality, saying, “I’m happy when Emily’s happy,” and expressing her affection for both Emily and Mindy.
Series creator Darren Star confirmed that the postcard mentioning Greece opens up the storyline for more unexpected events. He stated, “We’re going to be in Mykonos. And we will get to Monaco for a bit of a surprising reason. We’ll be in Paris a lot this season.”
Star, 64, expressed his support for the much-anticipated reunion between Emily and Gabriel. He commented, “They deserve each other. I hope so,” but added a note of uncertainty, “But I can’t promise. … She’s got a lot of options out there — and some possible new options too.”
Emily in Paris follows Emily Cooper’s journey from the U.S. to France for work, where she becomes entangled in a love triangle with Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
Emily then pursued a relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), but by the end of the fourth season, Gabriel decided he wanted to win her back. However, Emily had moved to Rome to start a new chapter with Marcello.
The fifth season brought Emily and her friends back to Paris, concluding with a visit to Venice. The final scene showed Gabriel on a boat heading to Greece, setting up his invitation to Emily.
Lucas Bravo, 38, shared his thoughts with Us, stating, “All we know is that we’re going to Greece and Monaco. We have no script. I have no idea. I do want them to be happy and in love because they’ve been working on it for six or seven years now.”
He added, “I hope it happens. I think some people want that, but whoever Emily ends up with will be the perfect choice because she knows better.”
Bravo also commented on Bryan Greenberg appearing in season 5 as Emily’s love interest Jake, saying, “I love Jake — that’s an actor I’ve been I love for a long time. Seeing him joining the Emily in Paris family was huge. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet him on set but I hope he makes a comeback in season 6.”
Emily in Paris is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
