According to Former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.), critical thinking has disappeared from the United States. He specifically pointed out White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who recently referred to a federal judge appointed by former President George W. Bush as a “Democrat activist.”

Leavitt’s comments came after U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg halted the deportation of Venezuelan migrants to a dangerous prison in El Salvador. This decision has sparked a legal battle between the Trump administration and Boasberg.

Jolly criticized Leavitt’s lack of critical thinking skills during an appearance on MSNBC, stating that she is an activist herself. He also defended the judge’s actions, emphasizing that Trump has faced numerous injunctions due to his actions outside of his executive authority.

Despite Leavitt’s claims, Boasberg, who was appointed by Bush and confirmed by the Senate with overwhelming support, has ruled in favor of Trump in the past. He dismissed a lawsuit seeking Trump’s tax returns and issued sentences related to the Capitol riot that were less severe than what prosecutors wanted.

Jolly further emphasized the importance of critical thinking in the current political climate, stating that the lack of it has led to a constitutional crisis. He noted that the country has been in a constitutional crisis since electing an insurrectionist.

The death of critical thinking is a serious concern in today’s society, according to Jolly. He believes that the current White House exemplifies this issue, and he argues that the country is indeed facing a constitutional crisis.
