Former NFL linebacker Myles Jack found himself in a troubling situation in Frisco, Texas, this week. The 30-year-old was arrested and is now facing a third-degree felony charge after allegedly discharging a firearm during a welfare check, as reported by the Frisco Police Department.

The incident took place early Tuesday morning in a residential area of Frisco. Police responded to a welfare concern around 5:40 a.m. and upon arrival, they heard gunshots coming from inside the home. Jack, the suspect, then climbed out of a two-story window and fell.

Jack was taken into custody at 7:12 a.m. and was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained from the fall. Fortunately, no one else was found inside the residence at the time of the incident.

The former NFL player faces multiple charges related to deadly conduct, including a third-degree felony for discharging a firearm and a misdemeanor for doing so in certain municipalities. Jack posted a $100,000 bond on Thursday, as confirmed by records.

Jack, a UCLA alum, was drafted No. 36 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft and played with the Steelers and Jaguars from 2016 to 2023, with a brief stint with the Eagles. Throughout his career, he accumulated 7.5 sacks, 634 tackles, and three interceptions.

In 2023, Jack and his mother, LaSonjia Jack, purchased the ECHL Allen Americans minor league hockey team. He is also associated with the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, as listed on their website.

Furthermore, Jack is part of a group of former athletes who are investors in Zawyer Sports, the company that owns the Icemen. His involvement in these ventures showcases his continued interest and investment in the sports industry. The situation in Texas was indeed a concerning one, but Jack’s contributions to the sports world remain noteworthy despite the recent legal troubles.
