Takehiro Hira, known for his role in the hit series “Shogun,” recently revealed that he has only seen one script for Season 2. Despite this, he believes he knows the fate of his character, Ishido Kazunari. Hira hinted at his character’s possible demise, stating that historically, older characters in “Shogun” tend to meet their end after the big war or battle. He teased that he may have an honorable death but left room for speculation by suggesting he could potentially make a return in a different form.

Hira, who was nominated for an Emmy last year for his role in the show, shared his thoughts during the premiere of his new film “Rental Family” at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles. The event coincided with FX’s announcement that Season 2 of “Shogun” will commence production in January, with a lineup of new cast members including Asami Mizukawa, Masataka Kubota, Sho Kaneta, Takaaki Enoki, and Jun Kunimura. Returning stars such as Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis will also be part of the upcoming season.

Season 1 directors Hiromi Kamata and Takeshi Fukunaga will return to direct episodes in Season 2, alongside Anthony Byrne, Kate Herron, and series co-creator Justin Marks. The official logline for “Shogun” Season 2 reveals that the story will unfold ten years after the events of the first season, promising new twists and developments for the characters.

In addition to his work on “Shogun,” Hira stars in “Rental Family” alongside Brendan Fraser, Mari Yamamoto, Shannon Mahina Gorman, and Akira Emoto. The film follows Fraser’s character, an actor living in Japan who joins a rental family agency run by Hira’s character, where he takes on various roles for clients. Directed by Hikari from a script co-written with Stephen Blahut, “Rental Family” is set to hit theaters on November 21.

As fans eagerly anticipate the return of “Shogun” for its second season, the addition of new cast members and the continuation of the captivating storyline promise an exciting continuation of the historical drama series. With Hira’s character facing an uncertain fate and the promise of new challenges ahead, viewers can look forward to more riveting twists and turns in the upcoming season.
