Natalie Greene, a former GOP aide from New Jersey, has been ordered to undergo residential treatment at an inpatient mental health facility after being accused of staging a fake attack on herself. Greene, who worked for Rep. Jeff Van Drew, allegedly orchestrated a phony assault where she claimed to have been held at gunpoint, carved up, and labeled as a “Trump Whore.”
The 26-year-old ex-law school student was charged for hiring a fetish artist to cut her skin on her face, neck, chest, shoulder, and stomach while writing derogatory messages on her body as part of the fabricated ambush at Egg Harbor Township Nature Reserve. Despite being released on $200,000 bond with GPS tracking, Greene was ordered by a federal magistrate judge to undergo inpatient treatment.
Prosecutors revealed that Greene traveled to Pennsylvania two days before the incident to pay the artist to create the gruesome wounds. On the day of the staged attack, she had a friend call 911, claiming they were assaulted by three men targeting Greene due to her association with Van Drew.
Law enforcement found Greene bound with zip-ties, shirt over her head, and wounds all over her body in a wooded area off the trail. She alleged that her assailants threatened her with a gun, but inconsistencies in her story, including the presence of zip-ties in her Maserati SUV, led authorities to see through her deception.
Charged with conspiracy to convey false statements and hoaxes, as well as making false statements to federal law enforcement, Greene could face up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted on both counts. Despite the allegations, her lawyer maintains her innocence.
The New Jersey US Attorney’s office and Greene’s lawyer did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The case continues to unfold as Greene undergoes mandatory residential treatment as part of the legal proceedings.
