Former Governor Andrew Cuomo in Talks for Weekly Radio Show
Former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who lost the 2024 mayoral election to democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, is reportedly considering a comeback in the form of a weekly radio show. The 68-year-old Democrat is in discussions with 77 WABC to host the show, confirmed by the station’s owner John Catsimatidis.
Catsimatidis mentioned, “I think he wants to do [a show] once a week. He wants to stay in touch with the people,” indicating that the show is currently in the works.
In a recent interview on “Cats Roundtable,” Catsimatidis hinted at Cuomo’s potential radio show, to which Cuomo responded, “I think your station has an audience that is participatory, and large. It’s very important … that we understand what’s going on and have informed dialogue and your station is a great vehicle to do that.”
Cuomo’s spokesman Richard Azzopardi stated, “He will continue to speak out on the important issues on WABC and many other media outlets,” emphasizing Cuomo’s commitment to public engagement.
While Catsimatidis did not disclose whether Cuomo would be paid for the show, it is noted that Cuomo earned $4.7 million in 2024 through his legal consulting business.
After resigning as governor in 2021, Cuomo briefly hosted his own podcast. The possibility of Cuomo joining WABC’s airwaves follows his Republican rival’s departure from the station amid an election controversy.
Overall, the potential radio show marks Cuomo’s continued involvement in public discourse following his political endeavors.
