Andrew Windsor’s recent arrest has ignited a frenzy of online activity, with anti-royal activists openly discussing plans to bribe British police officers in exchange for leaking his custody photograph – a mugshot they believe the world is eager to see.

The 66-year-old royal was arrested at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Following his arrest, he was taken to Aylsham police station, where he underwent nearly 12 hours of questioning before being released under investigation later that evening. Police also conducted a search of his former residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park. The allegations against Andrew stem from claims that he shared sensitive information with his late friend, convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, during his time as the U.K.’s special trade envoy from 2001 to 2011. Despite the accusations, Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has not directly addressed the latest claims.

While in custody, Andrew underwent the standard processing procedures, including fingerprinting, DNA swabbing, and being photographed. In the United Kingdom, custody images are not typically released upon arrest, unlike in the United States, where they are often made public. These images are usually only published after conviction and sentencing for serious offenses, and are subject to strict data protection laws.

Despite the restrictions on releasing custody images in the UK, online activists have been discussing pooling funds to incentivize a police officer to leak Andrew’s mugshot. Some individuals have even gone as far as offering substantial sums of money for the image, viewing it as a symbol of holding a royal accountable for their actions.

However, former senior law enforcement officials have deemed these discussions dangerous and unrealistic. They emphasize that police officers swear allegiance to the Crown and would not risk their careers or freedom to leak such sensitive information. Additionally, the release of custody images is strictly regulated and only done for legitimate policing purposes.

Following his release from custody, there are growing concerns for Andrew’s well-being. The pressure of the arrest and public scrutiny has taken a toll on him, with sources close to the royal family noting his distress. Despite facing potential life imprisonment for the offense of misconduct in public office, Andrew remains under investigation as speculation mounts over the possibility of his mugshot being made public.

As the saga surrounding Andrew’s arrest continues to unfold, the public awaits further developments while the royal family grapples with the aftermath of this scandal.
