In a heart-wrenching ceremony, almost 100,000 attendees gathered at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona to honor the memory of Charlie Kirk, who was tragically shot and killed during a college rally.

Among the notable figures present were former President Donald Trump, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, and political commentator Pete Hegseth, along with family and friends.

The solemn service commenced with the stirring melody of bagpipes and the National Anthem. Numerous political and religious figures delivered heartfelt speeches to commemorate Kirk’s life.

Former President Trump made his entrance shortly after the service began. Notable attendees included Megyn Kelly, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Donald Trump Jr.

Elon Musk expressed his sentiments on social media, stating he was “honored” to attend the memorial.

“Every available seat in this enormous arena not designated for security is filled to capacity,” he tweeted. “Honored to be here. All for Charlie Kirk.”

Security measures at the venue were reported to be comparable to preparations for a Super Bowl, according to a spokesperson.

“We’re providing the same level of security as any other major event,” Police Administrator Jose Santiago stated. “We will have officers monitoring the area and outside the stadium.”

Santiago noted that close coordination was taking place between the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Secret Service within the venue, while Glendale Police Department supervised outside the stadium.

“We’re treating this as we would any high-profile event,” Santiago elaborated, adding: “We’ve managed significant events like concerts and sports in the past, and we apply the same rigor here.”

The stadium, hosting the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, previously held Super Bowls in 2023, 2015, and 2008. It also hosted the launch show for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in March 2023.

The Glendale Police Department heightened alert levels due to potential disruptions at Kirk’s remembrance, particularly after a vandal attempted to desecrate a memorial earlier.

Since his death on September 10, crowds have gathered at Turning Point USA’s headquarters in Phoenix to pay tribute. The organization, which Kirk founded in 2012, has become a focal point for commemorating his legacy.

Mourners left flowers, photographs, and flags in his honor. However, a 19-year-old man was arrested for attempting to vandalize memorial items by kicking over vases and stomping on floral displays. Ryder Corral was notably adorned in black featuring a logo akin to that worn by the alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, during the shooting.

Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 while engaging with students; he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Prosecutors claim Robinson shot Kirk in the neck using a bolt-action rifle fired from a roof atop a nearby campus structure.

The firearm was later recovered and matched with Robinson’s DNA.

Kirk had only recently begun addressing a question regarding mass shootings related to transgender issues when the tragic event unfolded.
