According to Radar, Joseph was placed in solitary confinement at an Arkansas jail to shield him from inmates who might exploit his “celebrity status.”
During his time behind bars, the 31-year-old appeared to be largely ignored by his family, receiving visits solely from his attorney.
In a recorded jail phone call with his wife, Kendra, Joseph described his experiences in confinement.
“I’m in solitary,” he revealed, explaining to Kendra that he spends “23 hours of the day” in “an 8-by-10 area” at the jail.
“It’s a pretty small space, but I’ve been able to read quite a bit and rest some, although I’m not sleeping well at night,” he added.
Joseph mentioned finding solace in reading the Bible while he waits.
“They provided me with a Bible here,” Joseph told his wife. “Reading it has been really helpful and calming as I think about everything that’s happening.”
