Trump’s Unfettered Commentary Disrupts Congressional Dialogue
It seems President Trump has found a way to occupy the mental space of one of Congress’s most contentious figures without even trying.
As reported by , Trump recently engaged in a one-on-one interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The conversation, planned for broadcast on Sunday, was expectedly focused on his first 100 days in office, which he touts as remarkably successful.
During the interview, Welker employed a series of pointed questions aimed at putting Trump on the defensive. However, the former president navigated these inquiries with characteristic ease. A particularly noteworthy moment unfolded when Trump took a jab at Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), who has garnered a reputation for her combative style towards reporters and her penchant for stirring controversy in Congress.
“I look at the Democrats, they’re in total disarray,” Trump remarked. “They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day, and she’s definitely a low I.Q. person.” He added, “And they say she’s the future of the party.”

In response to Trump’s remarks, Crockett did not hold back. She took to her X account to unleash a tirade that many deemed juvenile, while also invoking issues of race.
“For you to be in charge of the WHOLE country, you sure do have my name in your mouth a lot,” she tweeted. “Every time you say my name, you’re reminding the world that you’re terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable.”
“So keep talking…”
